[real wedding] A magical affair at a California Mansion

AndieAugieWeddingMemoire Studio

While searching for a past clients wedding day photos, I came across these stunning images …thank you social media! Congrats to Andie & Augie, married on September 10, 2016 at Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, California. [photography by Mémoire Studio].

Memoire Studio

We customized my square, booklet-style pocket folder invitation suite by incorporating their navy, blush & beige theme colors. For the reception stationery, we picked up all the design details from the invites onto the menus, seating cards, and program fans (Andie tied her own ribbon embellishment onto the fan sticks)! I also love that we added the gold-glitter card stock to the escort tent cards & menus, a very glamorous touch.

And finally, they requested a unique guest book alternative [Wed-Libs], which we also personalized to match the rest of their stationery design! Check out the various wedding Mad Libs ideas via Pop-Sugar; [14 Free, Fun, and Printable Wedding Mad Libs].

The full invitation suite was truly unique & colorful, incorporating navy, eggplant & fuchsia. first the save the date cards {I posted these a while ago here}. for the invites we wrapped lace, which kat picked out herself, vertically around the cover of the pocket folder. we also added embellishments like the square name tag to the front cover, and a ghosted swirl graphic on all insert cards.  paper: metallic stardream quartz + iris blue

*reception stationery: I picked up the design from the invitations for the escort & table tents, we even added the fuchsia lace to the table cards {another reason why it’s always good to purchase more yards than you need  😉  I love how all these small details bring together the colors beautifully; linens, flowers, paper & candy bar too!

Check out Rosa + Doug’s destination wedding invitation, which was based on the “darlene” engagement invite {also shown below}.

peacock feather wedding invitation tri-fold

We designed a super unique tri-fold, trilingual invite enclosed in a tall, tea-length pointed pochette. I love when unfolded it reveals the peacock feather inside! This customized version is for their Wedding in Spain! {check out the fun details from their local wedding celebration in San Francisco}.  fyi : this design would work great as a wedding program too!!

[design update] I love handmade paper

We finalized Nhaman & Jeremey’s wedding invitation package a few weeks ago!! (check out the final booklet package below)

UPDATE: a customized version of this design using lavender

They both helped to find a replacement handmade paper from a store in Santa Monica called Hiromi Paper (they loved it as much as the previous discontinued paper -yeah!).  We also changed the embellishment to a dried Tapestry millet, which we ordered from Save-On-Crafts!  I added a 3rd layer of brown textured paper to the belly band for additional thickness & for contrast. It really helps their name band with custom monogram pop!  (we also changed the direction of the names on the band, shown below):

I also put together their announcement using the same design {paper, monogram, etc…} but we only used 2-layers of paper instead of a folded booklet.

[handmade paper] design with embellishments

oh the paper drama… and of course the paper i love working with so much; handmade!

This story begins as we are completing the design process for nhaman & jeremy’s wedding invitations; after we finalized the fonts, colors & their custom monogram design, I made a few flat card & booklet samples for them to pick from. I’m also showing them different handmade paper belly band options to go with the tallow berry embellishment they want to use + their custom label wrap (samples shown below).

They loved the samples! {i love them} anyway, they sent me their favorite design picks to form a final invitation, and as i started to order everything I realized the handmade paper they picked (shown in the front of the image above) was discontinued! nooooo! how can this be!  SO, I’ve been looking on-line & at art stores for left over & similar paper {& so has uyen, their sassy girl wedding coordinator}. I drove to one of the most creative art stores in San Francisco, Flax Art & Design. Their handmade paper selection is amazing {I was literally there for hours, check it out if you haven’t been yet!}

After all the searching, below are some images of what we found so far to replace the “birds nest” paper they loved. The Egyptian Papyrus paper is so cool, but of course the most expensive! I guess that’s how this wonderful life works, you never know what last minute “paper drama” will come at you. 😉  *check out the final outcome here!
