[wedding invitations] a custom bilingual invite for the holidays

Greenery-Bilingual-Invite-Suite
Uyen at Sassy Girl Weddings contacted me to design her clients invitation suite; which was an exciting project since I needed to find a way to combine two languages, a greenery watercolor graphic, along with their holiday wedding theme! The most cost effective [and eco-friendly] option was to print a language on each side of a single-layer card. The couple could then flip the card face-up within the envelope, depending on who was receiving the invite.

Bilingual-Invite
I found a few green foliage graphics for the couple to choose from, I then added the red berries for a classic holiday element. They decided to incorporate a belly-band embellishment [wrapped around the invite card] to slide the enclosure cards in.  For the band design, I laid out their names & date in white on a red berry ink. Finally, we went with a wild berry envelope to match.

Wedding Invitation GreeneryI can’t wait to customize this design style in the future for a non-holiday celebration, simply by changing the band & envelope color and probably removing the berries… or we can keep them for fun. 😉

Lately I’ve been designing more custom invitations for DIY clients, who want me to provide either the hi-res PDFs (ready to print themselves) or the printed enclosure cards only (cut & ready to assemble). I absolutely love when I receive the completed wedding invitation suite from each diy client, so I can actually see the final result! 😉 “thanks!”

[custom wedding invitations] vertical folded card + ribbon sash

Everyone is loving the look of opening an invitation like a present, revealing a pocket full of goodness. However, if you plan on adding your website to the main invitation & don’t really need an additional enclosure card (wedding details/map/reception info) but only the RSVP card, you don’t necessarily need a pocket. Your guest will be sending back the RSVP leaving the pocket empty & lonely, & leaving you wondering why that extra money was spent?

So, when Christine wanted to design her invites based on Myisha’s design (shown below) we came up with a fantastic solution: a 3-layered vertical folded card with ribbon sash & name tag on the front, but the invite panel is moved to the bottom where the pocket was, and the RSVP slides under the ribbon at top! I do believe we solved this one with flying colors, don’t you think?! 😉 I love it!

[custom wedding invitation] tea-length metallic golds

Congrats to Anh & Todd, married July 17, 2011.
I’m finally showcasing their 2-layer tall/tea-length wedding invitation suite!

I first designed their intertwined palm tree logo…  I then laid out the typography using zapfino & copperplate fonts. I love that they chose the natural white linen shimmer paper to layer with the gold card stock {click on the photo to see the texture}! Their personalized wedding map & RSVP postcard enclosures were tucked behind the invite.  *NOTE* the pocket on the back isn’t closed on one side since the size of these enclosure cards wouldn’t allow for a fully closed pocket. instead you can place them loosely behind the invite or tie with your choice of ribbon, twine or elastic thread.

[custom wedding invitation] vintage cinema ticket

I recently designed tony & trisha’s vintage cinema wedding invitations, which also included their guest/return address label wraps to match. {printed on metallic silver cardstock with metallic black envelopes & belly band w/blush pink vintage labels}.

Their enclosure card is tucked behind the ticket invite, held together by a belly band that slides off. {this additional card is perforated so the RSVP postcard tears-off leaving the guest with the map & wedding details card…I also love that they requested to include the fun entrée illustrations}!

[custom wedding invitation] modern clouds yellow & peacock blue

It’s very exciting when I receive a “new invite project” email from my sassy, southern california wedding coordinator, uyen {sassy girl weddings & events}…  and anita & eric were our next victims!  they wanted something very unique, colorful & graphic to define their rooftop, art museum wedding celebration.

yellow & peacock blue invitations

To help start the design process, they provided art inspiration (ie: woodblock clouds & rooftop silhouette) along with their favorite invite design, plus color & font choices. My design was a success, so we went with paper-source sunshine yellow and printed the peacock blue digitally on cream felt cardstock. *I love that they wanted a fun RSVP postcard & map too… completing the package perfectly!

square pocket wedding Invitation

The full invitation suite was truly unique & colorful, incorporating navy, eggplant & fuchsia. first the save the date cards {I posted these a while ago here}. for the invites we wrapped lace, which kat picked out herself, vertically around the cover of the pocket folder. we also added embellishments like the square name tag to the front cover, and a ghosted swirl graphic on all insert cards.  paper: metallic stardream quartz + iris blue
