[custom design] Vintage themed wedding & party Ticket invites

vintage wedding invites with rsvp stub

Wow, time is flying by! I was first asked to custom design a vintage film ticket invitation for Trisha & Tony‘s wedding in 2011. Luckily, based on each new clients theme, this unique invite suite has been personalized many times over!

For example, I’ve updated the design to work as a single invite card only (vs. the full suite w/tear-off RSVP postcard & map card), along with a new style that includes a perforated tear-off RSVP STUB on the main invite.  There are also now smaller, miscellaneous event tickets available, plus ticket save the dates. And lastly, a fun Pop or Rock Star themed girls birthday party ticket.

This is truly what I love about my job…customizing all the details…it’s never the same. Time flies when you’re having fun! 😉

[custom design] Destination Fiesta! Create a Stationery Suite Unique to Your Wedding

papel picado themed wedding

papel picado themed wedding
A custom designed papel picado wedding invitation suite; 2-layer card, 2 personalized enclosure cards + monogram tag & twine [white texture + mandarin matte]
Starting from your event’s theme — like the Mexican destination wedding shown here — is an ideal way to begin the creative process for your invitations and stationery. This is exactly what we did to create Liz’s wedding package after she Googled around & found Papercake’s “Papel Picado” themed design via Etsy! (Papel picado is a Mexican style of art that features tissue paper cut-outs.)

destination save the date card
A destination wedding save-the-date with envelope; includes papel-picado graphic + photograph

After the initial email inquiry & discussion on papers, colors, etc., I began the process with the design of their monogram, a papel picado flag with initials. (The monogram will set the tone for the special day & can be used throughout the wedding stationery, on the cake, favors, or even lighting at the reception! e.g. check out the postage stamp above – ordered via zazzle). I placed their monogram onto the banner illustration along with an engagement photo for their save the date cards. She had the guest & return addresses printed directly onto the envelopes by cards & pockets; (on their site, select the envelope color & size, choose your fonts, then pick guest only -or- guest + return address printing).

custom wedding invitation diy assembly
Behind the scenes! After custom designing & printing the invite and enclosure cards, the assembly can begin: layering cards together, twine embellishment cut to size, monogram tags punched, tie all together & insert face-up in outer envelope!

We had a little fun with the papel picado invitations & switched up some of the paper & ink colors. Liz also had the addresses printed on pink, watermelon envelopes (not shown). Finally, I printed the custom monogram onto a tag that we tied with twine around the 2-layer invite & enclosure cards. I cannot wait to see what we do for the reception stationery! 😉

You can do the very same to create your custom wedding suite by first working with me to develop a monogram or graphic, then adding this design to the save the dates, and finally styling the invitations to match!  fyi: If you would like to print & assemble your own stationery, I also offer DIY design assistance where I layout and provide high-resolution pdf’s ready for print!

[wedding design] custom invitation process

pcpproduction1

I can’t believe it’s almost March… it’s been a busy beginning of the year producing spring & summer wedding invites, which unfortunately makes it difficult to keep up with blog posts. So, I utilize social media whenever possible [especially Papercake’s Instagram page]. This keeps my business up to date, showcasing new designs as I create them (with a few lifestyle shots in between 😉).

instagram2017

I love that Instagram just added a new feature [share multiple photos and videos in one post]. Since I was actually in production on an order, I decided I would share my custom design process in one post. I then realized I should share these photos here, as well, to give a visual of how it all works.

note > I have many local clients that I’m able to sit down & meet with, but I mostly work with clients nationwide (and international – many thanks to Etsy)!

> After the initial inquiry, design inspiration emails and quote approval, a mock-up PDF is started via email. I can also mail paper color swatches to choose from, based on the events theme.

> Once revisions are made and design is finalized, I can then order supplies and make an actual sample invitation for approval… print production & assembly can start after that!

[save the date] football wedding tickets

UPDATE:  I’ve recently designed my sport themed tickets as invitations too [which you can customize using your team colors & photo!]

old post:  The wedding invitation inquires are already rolling in and I can’t wait to come up with lots of fun new designs… like the custom Wedding Save the Date Football Ticket shown below [personalized for angela & chris; he’s a coach for the NFL Raiders]!

Angela & her friend Emma found my concert tickets on etsy. They asked if I could personalize the ticket idea, but in a larger format to match an NFL ticket? Why yes!  Based on the raiders colors we printed black ink on silver cardstock from paper-source. She used the silver PS open-end envelopes to match. I also added their engagement photo inside the raiders shield!  Such a fun idea, I think they turned out awesome! Congrats!

[design update] custom invites & tickets

The wedding season has slowed down a bit so I now have time to work on new holiday card designs, + I can finally show some recent customized invites…

…like Kelly‘s 3-layer, ink stamped Wedding invitation {shown below on the left} which was chosen to be personalized for a bridal shower invite {redesign on the right}. The wording & fonts were changed along with the cardstock paper & ink color, eggplant to bronze.

Also popular to customize is the Concert Ticket Invite or Save the Date, which can be changed for any party or event {all I need is your personalized wording & colors to match}. I’ve created Bat Mitzvah, Stagette/Bachelorette, Wedding, even smaller Escort/Place card seating tickets {the band name is the table name, sample shown below for matt & sophia’s wedding reception}!

[custom wedding invitation] tear-off RSVP postcard

> just a quick post to show how easy it is to personalize this eco-friendly wedding invitation package!

UPDATE: lesley customized her tear-off RSVP invite by adding a garden rose illustration to match her theme; printed on ivory matte paper with her choice of golden green envelopes
wedding invitation RSVP tear-off

Chelsea loved marilyn’s design {shown below} which included the tear-off response postcard, but she wanted to change the paper color & flower illustration to match her wedding theme! So, we changed the cardstock to a light pink & the flower to a gerber daisy. tear off response wedding invitation

Congratulations to Vera & Tim, married on April 30th, 2010 in Costa Mesa, California!

> My reception dress (from David’s Bridal)! I couldn’t dance in that big ball gown so I figured I better have a more comfortable alternative. Saw it online, went to the store over my lunch break, tried it on and walked out with it in under 15 mins.  There were 3 brides there trying on dresses and they all looked at me like “How did she just do that?”

[custom wedding map] designed to match your invitation

custom wedding map

personalized wedding map : mary kate won a contest I had with weddzilla’s blog last year!
above is the final map I created for her designed to match their invitation package by minted.com {shown below, but they customized their invite with green & brown ink}.

I love when I can see a proof of the actual invitation, it really helps keep the consistency within the package…like the heart I picked up, even though small on the invite. Or the script font angled & bleeding off the side. It’s all about the details!!
