[real wedding] A magical affair at a California Mansion

AndieAugieWeddingMemoire Studio

While searching for a past clients wedding day photos, I came across these stunning images …thank you social media! Congrats to Andie & Augie, married on September 10, 2016 at Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, California. [photography by Mémoire Studio].

We customized my square, booklet-style pocket folder invitation suite by incorporating their navy, blush & beige theme colors. For the reception stationery, we picked up all the design details from the invites onto the menus, seating cards, and program fans (Andie tied her own ribbon embellishment onto the fan sticks)! I also love that we added the gold-glitter card stock to the escort tent cards & menus, a very glamorous touch.

And finally, they requested a unique guest book alternative [Wed-Libs], which we also personalized to match the rest of their stationery design! Check out the various wedding Mad Libs ideas via Pop-Sugar; [14 Free, Fun, and Printable Wedding Mad Libs].

[Real Wedding] A Romantic and Glamorous Reception

Photography by Sun & Sparrow

Congrats to Michelle & Raphael, married on August 22, 2015 in Santa Monica, California!
STD_postcardMichelleUyen, from Sassy Girl Weddings, first asked me to design their Save the Date postcards incorporating blush & gold colors. For the reception at Casa Del Mar, we needed glamorous stationery to complement the venue and the couple’s romantic theme. Below are just a few stunning photos [by Sun & Sparrow] showcasing not only the escort, table & menu cards printed on soft blush metallic finish paper with dark gold ink accents, but some incredible inspiration of Uyen’s wedding planning expertise!

[Wedding Invitations] Etiquette

STD_postcardMichelle

After your engagement photos are ready to go, it’s time to start thinking about what you want to do with save the dates! I teamed up with Clane Gessel Photography to answer a few questions [below] regarding tips and ideas to help you start brainstorming ideas for wedding stationery design.STD_TiffJoey

Q: What timeline do you recommend for sending out save the dates and invitations?

A: Save-the-dates can go out six to eight MONTHS before the wedding … invitations can then go out anywhere from six to eight WEEKS beforehand!

Q: How can wedding stationery bring the bride and groom’s personality to life?
A: Couples should sit down and discuss what they both love together. One idea is maybe doing theme-based stationery on how they met. The best thing to do is to research and get ideas by browsing wedding-related searches! For example, if classic is more your style, type in ‘vintage film cinema wedding’ or for more alternative weddings, get creative ideas by typing in, ‘concert themed wedding’. Pinterest is another great resource I swear by.

Q: What trends are you seeing in wedding stationery right now that you recommend?
A: I, of course, love any trend that involves a unique & custom design, but gold, rose and peach colors are hot right now!  I’m doing more RSVP postcards than ever before [saves money on the postage stamp plus weight of final invitation package.] Which actually lead me to design an all-in-one tear-off/perforated rsvp postcard with details/map card attached, for guests to keep once they send the rsvp back.

Q: What should a bride consider when trying to choose between modern or traditional wording for invites?
A: Wording is an important part [along with the paper & colors chosen of course] to set the tone of the wedding, but more importantly to let the guests know who is hosting and how formal it will be. I often tell my clients to check out the wording options at theknot.com

Q: What is the most creative thing you have designed?
A:  The vintage film tickets I design are very popular along with my concert-and sporting-themed tickets. (Thank you to clients who originally requested these custom designs!) My San Francisco skyline illustration was created the same way, along with a few other city skylines after couples decided they want a modern ‘city themed’ stationery suite.

Thanks to photographer Gustavo Fernández [along with naomi], I’m able to share these wonderful wedding day photos & planning inspiration! I loved customizing my san francisco skyline invitation to complement their venue location (we replaced the bay bridge with the golden gate bridge). They also personalized the metallic paper colors to match their color theme.

OH MY GOSH!  I’m Super excited about the monogram on the cupcakes!! 😉

2012.10.20 Naomi Evarts & Kevin Hurley Wedding Contract

We used Kara’s cupcakes (I’ve always been a huge fan of their cupcakes, so it worked perfectly to have them for our wedding). They will do the custom monogram for $1 per cupcake, and they have those cute six-inch cakes so you can still “cut the cake” but serve your guests cupcakes too. (At one point, our youngest flower girl was storing cupcakes in her flower girl basket) 🙂 ~naomi

I assisted in designing & printing the wedding programs, but Naomi made her own CD wedding favors & escort cards to match!

Everything came together beautifully… and what a gorgeous venue [the Clubhouse at the Presidio Golf Course, San Francisco] and of course, a gorgeous couple! Congrats!

[photography] turn your photos into art

printcopia

I love the look of canvas on my walls. And of course an easy DIY project … like wrapping my leftover handmade paper on blank canvas to give or keep as unique wall art. [fyi: I use a staple gun though, instead of mod podge].

DIY_WallArtPaperCanvas

But wait, Printcopia is a new way to turn YOUR photos and snapshots into works of art, with a variety of printing materials and options to choose from including gallery-quality canvas, sleek acrylic, and glorious panoramic printing. You can upload your own images [even from instagram or facebook] directly on their easy to use website; just choose size, image & any custom details.

They also have framing options & designs for wall decals! I can’t decide what to print first 😉 Have you tried them yet?

[tech style] wedding party app…for the guest photos

Wedding Party

So, yes… the professional photographer should always be the main artist focused on the couples’ very important photos… BUT… what a great idea this app is for the guests! They can capture all those random moments the bride & groom miss during the cocktail, dinner & reception hours. Love it… check out all the benefits too! Have you used it yet??

Terra Gallery in San Francisco, California!

I was thrilled to illustrate the San Francisco skyline for Lianne & Al’s customized wedding invitation…and I love that the design was carried on throughout the reception stationery! Page Bertelsen photographed these beautiful images that lianne was sweet enough to share with me.

Congrats to Naomi & Keith, married on September 24, 2011 in Beverly Hills, CA.
I was privileged to design their wedding reception stationery, which included the ceremony programs, edible favor labels, escort cards and table number tents. Their photographer, Heather Kincaid, recently sent me a few photos of these creations that were shot on the big day.
